Maybe you have a desire to parent but are very afraid of birth. Giving birth can seem scary, especially if you know nothing about the process. We’re here to give you more insight into birth to alleviate your initial fears and concerns. Clarity comes with knowledge.
At Hope First, we offer educational classes on fetal development, prenatal care, and childbirth so you can move forward with confidence.
Be Informed About Childbirth
Childbirth comes with lots of ins and outs around the process and preparation. The more you are informed, the better you will feel when the time comes. You are not alone.
Talk to your OB/GYN, midwife, or any other professionals about the birthing process. Learning from a healthcare team you trust can help answer your many questions right now.
Preparing Physically & Mentally
After learning more about the birthing process, you can take practical steps to prepare physically and mentally. Birth often relies on your mental strength as well, as it works hand in hand with your physical ability and strength.
With every contraction, your body is preparing to move the baby from your uterus, down through the birth canal, and out of your vagina. While birth pain can get intense, breathing techniques, pain relievers, massage therapy, a warm bath, or an exercise ball can all provide some relief during the process.
Be aware of your birth option, like the option of epidural or other alternatives, before going into labor. This will help calm any fears of not being able to change your mind. You are in control of your birth, and you can change your mind early on in the birthing process if you decide to.
